A Snowy Day Turned Storybook Perfect
Dearest gentle reader,
I recently had the honor of photographing a picture-perfect tea party at Scarlet Springs Farms in Waterford, Virginia, and it truly felt like stepping into a winter storybook. Scarlet Springs is one of those rare places that has something magical to offer in every season and every type of weather. On the day of our tea party, snow and ice covered the farm outside, but thanks to their enclosed ridgetop stables, we were warm, cozy, and completely comfortable. The space created the perfect blend of rustic charm and elevated elegance, making it an absolute dream setting for both events and photography.
We enjoyed delicious food from Between the Hills Catering and even got a small taste of their upcoming High Tea with the Highlands experience, which is going to be such a unique and special offering. Scarlet Springs is known for the little details that make experiences feel extra memorable, including the fact that all of the Highland cows on the farm are named after Bridgerton characters - which honestly could not be more perfect for a tea party setting.
There is also a new animal joining the farm family soon, but it has not been announced yet. I won’t spoil anything, but it is definitely something to keep an eye out for this year.
This tea party is especially meaningful to me because some of the images captured that day will be featured in the next issue of Virginia Living, showcasing photos from this beautiful event. Being able to document such a thoughtfully curated experience and then see those images shared on a larger platform is incredibly special and something I am so grateful for.
Scarlet Springs Farms truly offers something rare - a space that feels timeless, welcoming, and completely unique to Northern Virginia. Whether you are planning an event, a gathering, or a photography session, it is a place that creates moments you will never forget.
With love,
Katie
